JOB CLASSIFICATION: Classified

 

JOB TITLE: Grounds Maintenance

  

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 hours daily, Mon-Thurs

 

Fringe Benefits effective after probation

 

REPORTS TO: Coordinator of Facilities 

 

WORK LOCATION: District Wide

 

OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

This is a routine job of average difficulty involving gardening and maintenance work on school and athletic
fields. Cuts grass, rakes leaves and edges lawn; trims and prunes trees and shrubs; sprays lawns, shrubs and
trees with fertilizer or insecticide; plants grass, flowers, trees and shrubs; operates power or hand lawn
mowers, edgers and sweepers; operates sprinkler system or performs irrigation duty; picks up trash; may
assist in laying sprinkler system, digging ditches or cement work; performs other duties as required.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Considerable walking with some climbing; also rides equipment. Much work done under the hot sun.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School diploma or equivalent required.
2. Should be knowledgeable of and able to operate heave grounds equipment.
3. General knowledge of pruning, land water needs and care and feeding of lawns and plants.
4. Ability to carry out preventative maintenance program on equipment.
5. Experience preferred
6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate.

3. Two (2) current letters of recommendation.
